Stress and Health

Stress Can Effect the Heart

America we need to wake up and realize what's happening to our country. We have very selfish people running our government and country from the president to every member in congress. These people do NOT represent the majority of Americans. They represent themselves and their own socialistic ideas. We have an economy that is haunting us. Unemployment is appalling. The bailouts that this administration handed out to Wall Street, the banking and the auto industries were outlandish and NOT approved by the American people. Our voice in government, our liberties and our freedom are being stripped. And that's not all...

According to the APA ( American Psychological Association), many Americans are feeling increased economic stress related to the current economic climate in the United States and this stress is taking its toll on emotional and physical health. More than half of Americans polled by the APA reported irritability or anger, fatigue and sleepiness. Almost half say they self-medicate by indulging in unhealthy foods and overeating. So there you have it, finances now overshadow the typical causes of stress of work and relationship.

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia:

Signs of stress include poor judgment, a general negative outlook, excessive worrying, moodiness, irritability, agitation, inability to relax, feeling lonely, isolated or depressed aches and pains, diarrhea or constipation, nausea, dizziness, chest pain, rapid heartbeat, eating too much or not enough, sleeping too much or not enough, social withdrawal, procrastination or neglect of responsibilities, increased alcohol, nicotine or drug consumption, and nervous habits such as pacing about or nail-biting.

And that isn't even mentioning the government health care program that congress is forcing upon us. Oh yes, they are working it right now behind closed doors (isn't there another way?)even before the president discusses health care with the other polical party. This meeting is just a hoax for the American public to think that this president will cross party lines. Do you feel unrepresented? All this government intervention is not just ruining our country, it's ruining our health and mental state. Just look what happened in Arlington, TX yesterday.

The following was also reported yesterday:

LONDON (Reuters) - People who are usually happy and enthusiastic are less likely to develop heart disease than those who tend to be glum, scientists said on Thursday, and boosting positive emotions could help cut heart health risks. Heart disease is the leading killer of men and women in Europe, the United States and most industrialized countries. Together with diabetes, cardiovascular diseases accounted for 32 percent of all deaths around the world in 2005, according to the World Health Organization.

The following information was found in an article at "heart-healthy living".com

How your heart is affected by stress.

Stress affects your cardiovascular system in several ways:
1. Heart rate increases.
2. The rate of blood flow speeds up, increasing blood pressure.
3. The release of fatty acids into the bloodstream for energy increases cholesterol and triglyceride levels.
4. Under chronic stress, the continued release of cortisol seems to have some effect on where fat is deposited in the body, most often in the abdomen.

The effect of chronic stress on your heart.

Over time, the physiological reactions to stress can take a toll on your cardiovascular system:
1. Due to an increased heart rate, it's possible that your heart could take on an
abnormal heart rhythm or you could have problems with the heart muscle itself.
2. Due to the increase in blood pressure, your cardiovascular system can have all of the usual associated problems with hypertension including increased risk for heart disease and
stroke.
3. Due to the increase in cholesterol and triglycerides in your bloodstream, there is potential for your arteries to thicken with plaque over time, which could lead to
coronary artery disease or heart attack.
4. The deposit of fat in the abdomen, leading to an “apple” shape, is a marker of metabolic syndrome and is considered a risk factor for heart disease.

Speaking for myself, I do NOT want the government to interfere with my health choices. I'm an adult, I want to choose my own plan, my own doctor and make my own health decisions. I don't want someone sitting behind a desk in Washington deciding if I should have a by-pass surgery. It's no-one's business but mine. Maybe I want to consider alternative medicine instead of conventional medicine. Maybe I want to consider both. No matter how you look at it, it's my health and my choice. And I made that decision; I'm a proud member of ASH (Advanced Scientific Health). I do the best I can to exercise, eat right and take the ASH products to protect my heart and all the serious problems associated with heart disease and stress.

You deserve to be protected too. It's really a lot easier than you might think.

There's plenty of educational and researched information there for you to learn and absorb. Oh, by the way all of the ASH products are formulated in labs approved by the FDA.
